BRAND DESIGN

Starting a business is exciting but very quickly, your list of things to get done piles up fast. What’s one of the first things you should add to the list of to do’s?

When you consider each of the steps that are necessary to launch a business, a logo seems like it should be a task completed alongside picking flooring for your space. But the thing about your logo and brand design, is that it will influence almost every aspect of your business. Everyone gets excited about having a visual identity that embodies their product, service, and culture.

Your logo is just one aspect of your brand. A brand includes everything from tone-of-voice to colour palette and photography styles. It influences the colour you paint your walls, what your staff will wear to work, and how you speak about your business. When creating your business plan, make sure you complete a brand development in the beginning stages, it will save you time and avoid an identity crisis in the long run.

The CIPR Communications process is a 7-step collaborative process, ensuring your visual identity represents your business and helps to inform all of your decisions.

Our CIPR Communication’s Brand Design Process

STEP 1

CLIENT INTAKE

It starts with a brand positioning meeting of your team and ours. This is where we discover the goals of your business. We go through an involved questionnaire, investigate and understand your mission and vision, your future plans, who your target audience is and so much more. Simultaneously, your team will complete a brand questionnaire. Once we nail down your health services brand positioning, we start with the creative design process.

STEP 2

CREATIVE CONCEPTS

Based on the information gathered in step one, our Creative Lead gets to the fun stuff. She develops a number of concepts, most times ending up with a mixed bag of ideas that will then be paired down based on CIPR team’s feedback. Every aspect of your business is considered when eliminating initial concepts. We aim to present you with only the top three, because choices are hard! Overwhelming the client is a real thing, and the reason we do all the initial work is to ensure you can focus on the other aspects of your business development. A thoughtful presentation of the top three concepts in black and white are presented.

STEP 3

FEEDBACK, FEEDBACK, FEEDBACK…

We are always excited to present the initial concepts of your new logo. We know that there is a winner in the three presented concepts, and hearing from you which one takes the cake is the highlight of the process. It launches the creative process into high gear.

STEP 4

BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

With the winning concept chosen, our Creative Lead creates a series of beautiful visuals that you will soon call your brand. Once she works her magic, the client is presented with a series of designs to review. This set incorporates colour, alternative layouts, variations of typefaces and iconography.

STEP 5

MORE FEEDBACK!

As always, the client is to review the logo sets, consider the rationales and make some choices!

STEP 6

LOGO FINALIZATION

Based on the client feedback, we create the final logo. This is the moment we have all been working toward and it feels oh-so-good. After sign-off, the client is delivered a logo package that has everything they need to run with it. The package includes the final logo in colour, black, and white, horizontal and vertical versions, icon and wordmark. And don’t worry, you will always be provided with all necessary file types so you will be able to display the proper version in every marketing or communications tactic you implement next.

STEP 7

BRAND GUIDELINES

Your brand guidelines will be your creative bible. You will now have direction on all things visual. From the logo usage, photography styles, typography options, colour palettes and colour codes, and how to apply your brand in the real world. This document is typically meant to be used internally so everyone is aware of the limitations of the brand (this keeps the ship tight), but is also incredibly useful when working with contractors, consultants and printers.
